Police-student clash: Case against 48 BNP leaders and activists

Police have filed a case accusing 48 BNP leaders and activists of clashes between police and students at the National Press Club in the capital.

The case was registered with the Shahbagh Police Station on Sunday night.

In the statement of case, 47 leaders and activists and 200/250 anonymous people have been accused. So far, police have arrested 12 people in connection with the clashes. The case alleges (police assault) attempted murder, assault and vandalism.

On Monday (March 1) morning, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahbagh Police Station Mohammad Mamun-ur-Rashid confirmed the matter to Jago News.

He said the arrested accused would be presented in court. Several members of the police were injured in yesterday’s clash. During the clash, Chhatra Dal leaders and activists attacked the police by vandalizing the windows of a temporary police box adjacent to the press club.

A case has been filed with the police against the incident. He also said that the operation to arrest the remaining accused in the case is continuing.
