The stock market fell for five consecutive working days

Shares of large companies such as Beximco, Beximco Pharma and British American Tobacco fell on Tuesday (February 23rd). With this, five consecutive working days fell.

Beximco’s share price fell about 8 percent, Beximco Pharma’s price fell 4 and a half percent. Besides, shares of almost all companies in the financial sector, including Lanka-Bangla Finance, banks and insurance companies have declined.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) index fell 6 points as most of the shares fell. On the other hand, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) index fell 161 points.

However, the positive picture was on the shares of multinational companies Robi Axiata, Linde BD, Marico and Reckitt Benckiser as well as Desi Islami Bank. As a result, the share price of these companies has gone up. There was less bidding on Tuesday than on Monday.

As seen in the market picture, the index started trading at 10 am on Tuesday with a slight upward trend. The market is in this state for only 16 minutes. The index increases by 22 points. Then began the pressure to sell shares. The index begins to fall. Which continued until the end of the day’s transaction.

According to the DSE, a total of 339 stocks were traded in the market on Tuesday. Of these, shares of 8 companies rose, 157 fell and 118 remained unchanged.

The main index of DSE stood at 5,317 points, down 6.49 points from the previous day. Among the other two indices, the DS-30 index is down 39.63 points from the previous day and the DSES index is down 15 points.

A total of 591 crore 81 lakh 14 thousand shares were traded on the DSE. 46 crore 7 lakh 8 thousand shares were traded in the previous working day.

Among the top trading companies on the DSE are Beximco, British American Tobacco, Beximco Pharma, Lanka-Bangla Finance, Robi Axiata, Square Pharma, Walton, Summit Power, Grameenphone Limited and Lafarge Holcim Limited.

Top gainers include E-Generation, Aramit Cement, Padma Islami Life, First Finance, GBB Power, ACI Formulation, Miracle Industries, Robi Axiata, Tawfika Foods and Reckitt Benckiser Limited.

The overall index of Chittagong Stock Exchange, another capital market of the country, has decreased by 161 points as compared to the previous day and stood at 15,373 points. Of the companies traded on the CSE, 26 rose, 122 declined and 36 remained unchanged.

A total of 26 crore 49 lakh 32 thousand shares have been traded in the market. 41 crore 41 lakh 57 thousand shares were traded on the previous day.
