The President and the Prime Minister pay their respects at the graves of the army officers killed in Peelkhana

The President and the Prime Minister have paid homage to the graves of the army officers who were brutally killed in the BDR mutiny in Peelkhana.

A wreath was laid at the military cemetery in the capital’s Banani around 9 am on Thursday.

First, the President. His military secretary paid tribute to Abdul Hamid. Later, her military secretary paid tribute to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Later, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan paid his respects.

Afterwards, the Chief of the three forces, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Senior Secretary of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs paid their respects.
Relatives of the slain army officers paid their respects in stages. After that, tributes were paid by various political parties and organizations.

On 24 and 25 February 2009, some members of the BDR headquarters (now BGB) were bloodied at Peelkhana in the capital. They killed 84 people, including 57 army officers. Two cases were filed under the Murder and Explosives Act. The two-stage trial of the murder case has ended. Evidence is still being taken in the explosives case.
