People’s hesitation over vaccine is over: PM

Mentioning that people’s hesitation over corona vaccine has been allayed, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the government will collect vaccines from other countries besides India to bring everyone in the country under its coverage. 

He was speaking at a groundbreaking ceremony for the Kumudini International Institute of Medical Sciences and Cancer Research in Narayanganj in a video conference from Ganobhaban on Sunday (February 14th) morning. He also called on doctors to be more involved in cancer research in the country.

Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal Limited is a trusted private entrepreneur in the medical and health sectors of the country. The trust, set up by humanitarian giant Randa Prasad, is expanding its services through medical education as well as the Cancer Research Institute.

Kumudini International Institute of Medical Sciences and Cancer Research-Kims Care is being set up in Narayanganj. It will be a modern installation in higher research in health sciences. There will be a 300-bed general hospital and a 50-bed cancer hospital. From where 6 lakh patients will get health care every year.

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of this modern research institute in a video conference from Ganobhaban on Sunday morning.

The Prime Minister said the government wants to expand the scope of medical research in the country. Physicians also need goodwill. The government will procure vaccines from other sources besides India if necessary to spread the epidemic vaccine to all parts of the country.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that the country is safe from epidemics due to the initiatives of various government departments and the efforts of common people.
