The Prime Minister directed to take action as to why the number of male students is declining

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that action should be taken by revealing the reasons why the number of male students in educational institutions is declining.

He said the Awami League has always wanted expansion of the education sector. At present the education rate is 74.4%. 

Noting that the government has given importance to science and technical education to build a skilled manpower, the Prime Minister said there is no alternative to a proper education system to continue this trend in developing countries. 

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust through the Ministry of Education on Sunday (February 28th) to distribute stipends, tuition fees, admission assistance and medical grants to poor and meritorious students. The Prime Minister joined the event organized by the Ministry of Education from Ganobhaban through video conference.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the program of providing Tk 8 crore 52 lakh 55 thousand 400 as stipend, admission and medical grant at the undergraduate level in the fiscal year 2020-21 through online.

Calling on the rich to come forward for the development and expansion of education, he said, “We are providing education assistance to millions of students across the country through the Education Assistance Trust. We are committed to building educated and skilled human resources. In this case, the rich will also come forward. Assist our Education Assistance Trust Fund or assist educational institutions in their respective areas. In fact, it is possible to move forward in the development of the institution from which you have studied and with the help of the students there.

The Prime Minister further said, ‘I took the initiative to form this trust by forming the government in 2009. We established it in 2012. Through this, stipends, tuition fees, admission assistance and medical grants are being given at secondary and higher secondary levels. Fellowships are being given in higher education.

Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Tofazzal Hossain Mia conducted the function from the edge of Ganobhaban. Education Minister said. Dipu Moni, Deputy Minister Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury, Mahbub Hossain, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, Aminul Islam Khan, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Department.
